Question:

I have two Thule tandem carriers and have used them with both Thule square bars and Yakima round bars in the past. I am moving on to a Thule TracRac TracONE truck bed carrier that I just ordered from etrailer - its for a 2022 Ram 1500. Are there any adapters that would allow me to attach my old Thule square bars or old Yakima round bars to the TracRac, perhaps in the t-slots? Or, any other ideas for using my tandem carriers on my truck and new rack? Thanks. Tom

Hi Tom,

You can use an adapter plate like part # THXADAPT11 to mount your Thule kayak carriers to the t-slots of the TracRac TracONE Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH27000XT you purchased. I've attached a short video below where Evangeline will show you how these work.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t think your suggestion works for my situation, though. It’s the Thule tandem bike racks (TH558P) that I want to be able to use with the truck bed ladder rack (TH27000XT), if possible. Any adapters for the tandem bike racks? I still have old square Thule crossbars and old Yakima round bars. Any adapters that would allow them to be attached to ladder rack? Might seem dumb to attach crossbar to crossbar, but I know the tandem bike racks work on those bars. Just trying to figure out if I can somehow still use the tandem bike racks. Thanks again.

@TomD That's my bad, I read tandem and immediately thought kayak carriers and not the # TH558P. There isn't an adapter kit available but both the # TH558P and # TH27000XT have T-slot channels that you could use to mount them together. You'd just need some sort of plate with holes to slip some square head bolts through and some nuts to secure the # TH558P to the plate with and then two additional holes to slip more bolts like the # Xadapt8 through to secure the plate to the t-slots of the # TH27000XT. It's the same concept as Thule's # Xadapt2 but you'd have to reach out to a local fabrication company to make it since they don't currently offer a compatible one. There unfortunately isn't a way to attach your standard crossbars to the crossbars of the # TH27000XT without fabricating some kind of adapter as well.
