Question:
I recently purchased a Carson car hauler. I now have an issue where the message board shows “trailer disconnected” and then “connected” every 3-5 minutes while driving. The reps who sold the trailer said the wiring is good. I tested my truck with another heavy duty trailer with no issues. The plugs are different. My new trailer I has a 6 pin with no backup lights. Both trailers have electric brakes. I’m tempted to buy the plug wire the same as the dump trailer because I know that one does work. Any help would be appreciated. The truck is a stock 2012 Ram 3500. Thank you

If you're using the wrong plug to connect your trailer, that might be the issue right there. If you don't have something already, you can use the Adapter 7-Pole to 6-Pole # 47549 to adapt your 6 way trailer to your 7 way truck.
If not, this type of error usually happens when there's an issue relating with the blue brake output wire that runs from the brake controller to the 7-Way connector.
Since you've already had your wiring tested and you tested a different trailer and it works, then the issue is with your trailer. I'd recommend going through your trailer's wiring and test the wires to make sure everything is good and not damaged. I'd also recommend cleaning your connectors on both sides and apply some dielectric grease # 11755.
If all that checks out and you're still having an issue, then the last thing I could suggest trying is clearing all of the trailer's your truck has saved and add the again.

Honestly, I was not expecting such a quick and thorough reply. I ended up taking back the car hauler to “Carson” as it was still under warranty. In the event that I get it back with the same issue I will definitely apply your expertise and related products. Thank you for your prompt reply.
