Yes, you can flat tow your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. You will need a base plate, tow bar, safety cables, wiring, and a supplemental braking system. I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # 280-5

-Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522

-Roadmaster Accessory Kit for Falcon Tow Bars # RM-9243-1

-Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System # BLU37TR

The Falcon has extra-long arms for tight turns and is also self-aligning. It will attach to the base plate kit with the non-binding quick disconnect making it easy to unhook when you reach your destination. The Roadmaster Accessory Kit comes with wiring and your safety cables along locks to keep everything secure and a storage bag. The Patriot is easy to set up and applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This will also require the # RM-88400 for installation.
