Question:
Bought a 2024 Honda Cr-v AWD gas not hybred. Towing capacity of 1500 pounds, towing aluminum boat well under 1500 pounds. Bought oem hitch. My current 2” ball too big to screw into towing bracket that came with new CR-V. Trailer set up for 2” ball. Can i buy a 2” ball that will fit the smaller Honda hitch, if not what size ball do I buy and what size channel tongue trailer coupler will I have to buy .

Finding the right 2" ball will require measuring the ball hole diameter on your current ball mount. Swapping out the coupler won't be necessary. Once you have the diameter you will be able to find the correct replacement based on the shank diameter. You can choose from one of the following:
-2" Hitch Ball - 5/8" Diameter Shank # C40097
-2" Hitch Ball - 3/4" Diameter Shank # 19258
-2" Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter Shank # 63845
-2" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter Shank # A-90
The capacity does vary between the different hitch balls but that shouldn't be a problem since all of them are above your 1,500 lb towing capacity. If for some reason the diameter isn't a common one, you could also replace the entire ball mount.
I couldn't find if you have a 1-1/4" or 2" receiver opening so you would need to measure again. Once you know the receiver size you can follow the article below which explains how to measure for rise/drop. After this is done you can follow the link below to all of our available ball mounts and choose one that matches. You will be able to filter down based on hitch size and approximate rise/drop on the left side of the page.
