Recommended Replacement For A Dometic BV59186 15K BTU RV Air Conditioner

Question:

I have a Grand Design Momentum with 3 A/C Units. The center A/C needs to be replaced. The following is the equipment I currently have. Bedroom: Dometic Model B57915 13.5 BTU Living Room: Dometic Model B59186 15K BTU with Heat Pump Garage: Dometic Model B57915 13.5 BTU Thermostat: Dometic Comfort Control Center 2 Model 3314080.00 What is the correct replacement for the Living Room A/C unit? I have recently watched a video stating the Furrion Chill is a direct replacement that will work with the existing Dometic wiring and thermostat. Thanks for any advise.

If you're just wanting to replace the only the rooftop unit and retain use of your current thermostat and controller then you'll be able to swap over to Furrion, but you'll lose the heat pump function. Most AC units have either a 6-pin or 9-pin wire harness connector so you'll need to get into the air distribution box under the living room unit and determine what style connector it has.

If you have a 6-pin connector you'll just need the Furrion Chill HE Replacement RV Air Conditioner Unit # FR58PR. For a 9-pin connector you'll need part # FR42PV for the wire harness adapter to be included. If your current unit is hardwired then you'll have to reach out to both Dometic and Furrion and determine the wire functions for both units to properly splice in the # FR58PR.
