Why Does The Test Light For Brakes On Tekonsha 7-Way Blink When Brake Is Not Pressed?
Published 07/25/2023 >
Question:
Hopkins 7 pin EB LED blinks when connected to a GMC 3500HD. It shows solid on when brakes are engaged and brakes work fine. Is this blinking light an issue or is it just the GMC controller sampling the circuit?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The blinking light on the Hopkins 7-Way # HM20087 is caused by the factory controller on your GMC Sierra 3500HD verifying the circuit connection with your trailer. It does this by sending small amounts of power through the brake circuit to determine if the circuit is completed and verifying a trailer with electric brakes is connected.
