To install a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 on your 1986 Chevy Suburban you need to use a circuit tester to find the cold side of the stop light circuit (it only gets hot when you depress the brake pedal).
According to my research it looks like you'll have to install all of your wiring and for that I recommend the following parts:
- Curt 4-Way Wiring Harness # C55312
- Universal Wiring Upgrade Kit # ETBC7
- Prodigy P3 # 90195
Attached are the instructions for the P3 that aren't an exact match for your Suburban, but it will give you an idea of what functions to look for.
