Question:

I have a 2008 gmc canyon with a drive shaft disconnect. Will the even brake work in this vehicle. And if so do I need the brake light relay.

The Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Braking System, # RM-9400, will work on your 2008 GMC Canyon as long as it does not have an active power assist braking system. The need for the Brake Light Relay, # RM-88400, will depend on the tail light wiring harness you choose to use.

Since your GMC Canyon has a separate tail light system, meaning the turn signal and brake lights use separate bulbs in the tail light assembly, you will only need the brake light relay if you use the Hopkins Wiring Harness, # HM56109, or a 4-diode tail light kit like part # RM-154 and your brake lights come on when the engine is off.

To prevent the need of the brake light relay, I recommend installing a bulb and socket kit like part # RM-155. I prefer the bulb and socket kits because they use separate bulbs from the vehicles bulbs and would not interfere with your vehicles tail light wiring at all. There is also no cutting or splicing into your vehicles tail light wiring.
