Why Does The Reese M5 27K Hitch Have A Higher Pin Weight Capacity Than The 32K Hitch
Updated 03/06/2023 | Published 03/03/2023 >
Question:
Why is the vertical load limit less on the 32k hitch than the 27k. I wouldve thought the 32k is heavier duty therefore the vertical load limit would be more than the 27k hitch?

Most likely the Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP68FR was tested to that capacity and they just never went higher since the 6,400lb capacity is above the pin weight capacity of the truck that would use it. It's very common practice to just hit the maximum for the truck and stop testing.
