Recommended 7 and 5-Way Trailer Connector for 2016 Toyota Tacoma

I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 4x4 that does not have the towing package. I want to use the oem style 7/4 pin housing that sits next to the rear licence plate. My boat trailer is a 5 pin connection so I plan on using a 7 to 5 adaptor. The trailer has no brakes so I dont plan on connecting the brake controller for now. It has a reverse light, however... does this harness require tapping into the drivers side reverse light to obtain the reverse signal? Or is that connection already made in the T connectors? Thanks!

The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 22117 which is a fit for a 2016 Toyota Tacoma does contain the reverse light signal. In order to utilize the factory bumper cutout you'll also need the Curt Replacement OEM USCAR Trailer Connector part # C42JR.
In order to connect a 5-way connector, you'd just need the Optronics 7-Way Round to 5-Way Flat Trailer Connector Adapter part # A75TB.
In the future when you do need a trailer brake controller, I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller for Tekonsha Harness part # RED63RR with Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob part # 331-TPSI-002.
