You can opt for a roof rack that would be versatile enough to handle a variety of carriers, or you can choose to use a cargo bag like part # RL100A20 that will actually sit on the roof of the vehicle. If you choose this option, I recommend a protection pad like part # RL100650. This would provide a barrier between your vehicle roof and the cargo bag and prevent scratches and abrasions.

If you decide on a cargo bag like part # RL100A20, it can ride on the roof of your vehicle without being placed on a roof rack, but would require one of a couple options to secure the bag. You can use clips like part # RL100600 which attach to the door ledges or rain gutters to hold your bag on your naked roof, or you can run the straps through the vehicle interior and around the carrier. I spoke with my contact at Rightline and they told me that although there are no speed limitations on the cargo bag itself, you should make certain that it is properly secured to the vehicle. I would also recommend checking the cargo bag and straps often to make sure they have not become loose and in danger of falling off the car.
