Remote Transmission Cooler for a 2011 Chevy Silverado with 5.3 Liter Engine
Question:
I have a 2011 Silverado WT 4wd pickup with HD suspension, trailering package, 5.3L and 6L90 trans. I tow with this truck and the factory trans cooler is a disappointment, and I am in Phoenix so it get really hot here. I am looking for areally good remote cooler kit. I am not sure the hose size/diameter on this truck and am considering the D15960. Is this the right kit for my vehicle hose size-wise? It seems the hose with this kit is 1/2 inch, correct? Is this too large for my transimission? Thanks.

First, the hose size is not going to be too large. The 2011 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 liter engine can be used with fitting # D13035 so you will not have to cut and flare any metal lines. The fitting can also be used with remote coolers. Remote cooler # D15960 is a good choice because it is going to provide the maximum amount of cooling for you, even in an arid environment such as summertime in Phoenix.
I have included links to the installation details, an FAQ on transmission coolers, and a link to a video showing a typical cooler installation for you to the right.
