Hi, I have a 2006 and 2008 Honda Pilot that Id like to tow a camper trailer with. Both Pilots have a 4 pin connector. Can you tell me what you would recommend? Im interested in being able to use the electric brakes on the trailer and am not opposed to taking the Pilot in to have it properly done. Let me know when you can. Thanks

We have everything you will need to install 7 way trailer connectors on your 2006 and 2008 Honda Pilots. At this time there are no factory plug-in style 7-way wiring harness for Honda Pilots made before 2011, but you can use our Universal Installation Kit with 7-Way and 4-Way Adapter, # ETBC7, on each vehicle.
The # ETBC7 kit comes with everything you need to install the 7-way and 4-way adapter including the additional wires and hardware. This kit also comes with everything you need to install an electric brake controller. I have attached a link to the installation instructions for you to check out. Unfortunately we have not had a chance to install this kit on a Honda Pilot yet, but I attached an installation video on vehicle similar to your Pilot to give you an idea on what will be involved for the installation.
Keep in mind, this is a universal kit, so determining the best mounting location for the trailer connector will be up to the installer. When we install these kits, we typically place the connector near the hitch receiver.
If you are also in the market for a brake controller to activate the trailer brakes, then I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195. This is one of the top brake controllers on the market and has an LCD display that shows power output and potential issues. You can also install an additional pigtail harness, part # 7894, and mounting bracket, # TK5906, so you can use the brake controller with either vehicle.
