Question:
Hi all, very new to towing and I’m considering a 5th wheel hitch for towing a dump trailer on my old beast of a work truck. 76 f250 camper special, 460 with the heavier springs and rear axle. looking at the Reese 16k and it appears as though the same brackets fit 1975-2016 f250. It looks as if theres a universal kit thats a fit, but is there a custom fit bracket kit available? What about what Id need to wire a 7-way in the truck bed? Thank you

Expert Reply:
For your 1976 Ford F-250, with the 6-1/2' bed, you can use the:
-Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches # DM8552005-71.
This is a custom kit that will fit the 6-1/2' and 8' bed models, and includes the brackets and hardware for installation.
To add a 7-way to your truck bed, you'll just need the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector, 7' Lead # 20023.
