Troubleshooting Arms That Are Stuck At Bottom Of Center Tower On Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT
Updated 08/03/2025 | Published 07/03/2022 >
Question:
Hi. For the Thule double track bike rack there is a middle support tower that has frame holding arms that go up and down. The lower holding arm is stuck at bottom of rack and I can’t release it to raise it up. Must be a trick to hit something to override the release mechanism so I can raise the support arm.

If you've already tried moving the arms up and down the tower by unlocking the lock/unlock latch on the tower and attempting to move it on your Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH92BJ, then you can try and remove the Allen head bolt shown in the image below.
This will allow you to at least remove the arm from the housing on the tower. If you're still unable to move your arm hooks up and down the tower, let me know and we can try and troubleshoot more.

I have the same issue on a brand new installed rack… The Allan arm is stuck and I have tried to remove it with the Alan key but no luck. The only other thing I can think of is to remove the other bolt because the locking mechanism seems to be stuck, but not sure how to remove that one.
