Why Wont My Hood Close with the WT50206 Installed on My 2021 Dodge Durango?

Updated 05/11/2025 | Published 03/25/2022

Question:

Hello I installed this deflector on my 2021 Dodge Durango RT and the hood will not close all the way with it on. I removed it and hood closed fine. I’m curious what I can do about this issue

Sorry to hear about your issue with the Weather Tech Easy-On Stone and Bug Shield Deflector # WT50206. I went ahead and brought this to my attention of my contact at WeatherTech. She said that the adjustment of the bumper seals need to be exactly as pictured in the attached steps from the installation manual. Any minute shifts of these seals can cause the hood not to close. This is most likely the issue. The best route is to readjust the seals to make sure they are centered around the holes.

Hello, I am having the same problem. My hood is the "performance hood". Does that make a difference? Anything else you can suggest?

@Joe Hey Joe! It doesn't make a difference. I've got a 2023 RT and where the hood meets the front end on that generation is the same on all the trims. The geometry of the hoods don't change shape until you get a few inches back, so well behind where the Bug Shield Deflector item # WT50206 ends. The deflector follows the incline of the hood which flattens off on the standard models whereas ours changes for the hood vents.
