Yes. You do have to cut into the bottom bumper fascia in order to install the Draw-Tite - 1-1/4" # DT69MR on your 2022 Ford Explorer. You also need to cut a 1.5" hole in the vehicle's heat shield. I went ahead and attached a photo from the installation manual that shows the required cutting on your vehicle. This is the same process for all of the hitches available for your vehicle
