How Does the Security Strap for Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Carriers Work

Question:
Hi, I recently bought the King Joe Pro 2 along with the security strap? When I open my lift gate there is no room to slide the strap through the top as far as I can tell. Can it go elsewhere? Are there other alternatives?

You may be able to run the strap through backwards. Other than that there is no specific place the strap has to go. As long as the cylinder part is closed inside the vehicle and cannot be pulled out then that is all you will need to deter theft of the rack.
