What Gauge Are The Wires On The Rear Of The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger 40 Amp

Updated 02/17/2022 | Published 02/16/2022

Question:

Hey folks, in reading the install instructions online for the RedArc 1240D, For my application it calls for 4 awg from the start battery to the 1240D. What is the red wire size on the back of the 1240D? Will my required 4 awg match correctly? Perhaps you could share all the guage sizes? I would like to color match the wires since I need to buy the wire anyway. Thank you -

Per Redarc, the wires that connect your Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp, part # 331-BCDC1240D to your start battery, need to be equal to or greater than what is specified in the instructions. They will not match correctly, but they do not need to match. Your unit can use 6 gauge for shorter cable runs. The wires that are carrying heavy current are 8 gauge, yellow, black, brown, and red. The referencing wires are all 16 guage, orange, blue, and green.

I have included a video review of the charger below.
