Tread Wear and High Temperatures With Kenda # AM10248 Tires on HWT # AM22657 Mod Trailer Wheels

Question:
I bought 4 wheels and 4 rims from you and my question is that the rims say max 85PSI and the tires say 90PSI. These are on my 5th wheel RV. The problem Im having is that Im getting out side wear on the tires and high temps at 85 PSI. Can I run my tires at 90PSI on the wheels and if so can you tell me the safety factor on the rims? The rim code is Code: AM22698, Americana Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 6. Thanks PS I also purchased the steel valve stems recommended by the sales person and they would not work with this wheel.

The trailer wheel and tire combination you are using, parts # AM22657 and # AM10248, can be used at a cold inflation pressure of 90 psi. Although the rims are rated to 85 psi, they will certainly handle the slightly increased pressure. It is very important that you fill your tires to the desired pressure when they are absolutely cold. Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi.
If an individual tire is wearing on both of its outside edges, this typically indicates under-inflation. (The sidewall of an under-inflated tire will run hotter than one that is filled to the correct psi.) Higher wear in the center of an individual tire generally indicates over-inflation. If only one outside edge of a tire shows greater wear than the rest of the tread surface then alignment is suspect. If only the inside edge is wearing this can indicate the trailer is overloaded. You might also check the trailer suspension components to make sure nothing is loose, bent, or damaged.
