I emailed Alpena to get some clarification on their Alpena Trailblaze Tailgate LED Lights, part # ALP77229. I was told that the placement of the LED lights will not block or interfere with the BLIS sensors. However, the newer model years of the Ford trucks, may think that a lightbar is really a trailer when they are hooked up to the 4-way connector due to the power draw of the lights. Alpena has not seen that be an issue with the Trailblaze Tailgate LED Lights, but the lights were launched before the 2018 Ford F-150. I also checked some forums and there appear to be some work arounds if these LED lights were to interfere with your BLIS system.
You could wire the lights directly into your taillights and bypass the 4-way connector altogether. I have included a wiring diagram below to help identify the specific wires of the lightbar and their function. Once you have hardwired into your taillights I would use the Brophy Circuit Tester for 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part # F4CT, to verify your tow vehicles 4-way connector is working properly.
I have included product description links, a color coded wiring diagram, and an installation and video review links below.
