For your Firman 10,000-Watt Portable Generator # 333-P08003 you will want to make sure that the engine and the battery switch is in the "RUN" position.

Next, if that does not fix the issue, check the physical batteries in the remote, ensure they are not dead; Replace if necessary.

Finally, the last thing to try is to reprogram the remote. If that all still does not work you most likely have a defective remote and will need to replace it.

In response to the "start" not working it can be a number of things. The most common reasons are:

1. Low oil level
2. Dirty air cleaner
3.Bad spark plug

To fix low oil level, you can fill the crankcase to proper level or place your generator on a level surface. For a dirty air cleaner, simply replace old air cleaner with new clean air cleaner. Finally for bad spark plugs, consider replacing your old spark plugs.

If this does not fix your issue let me know and we can troubleshoot further.

Firman 80004 Intermittent problem When remote used, red light blinks, but won't crank. When this happens ,manual start switch won't crank motor either This happens most times. On rare occasions it will operate as advertised. I've owned this about 3 years. Bought to replace my 8000 champion generator which I have since repaired and am using because I can't rely on this one. Ps.my older champion looks like a clone of the firman. Same setup same remote start same engine Thanks in advance for your help. Pete

@Pete Hey Pete, a blinking red light typically means that there is either low oil, a problem with the fuel system, or a faulty component with the generator. If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking the fuel valve, the oil level, and carb. If that all looks fine, then you can also check the air filter, the start solenoid, the start switch, the battery, the low oil sensor, and the spark arrestor. Any of the pieces could be the source of your issue and unfortunately you jus have to go through them first to find out what is and isn't working. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!
