How to Wire Up a 6-Way on a Hawk Trailer
Updated 05/29/2013 | Published 05/25/2013 >
Question:
Help my wires on my Hawk trailer are different colors than anything I can find. I am in need of attaching a new 6 way conncetor. My wires are white and black in a gray sleeve, white, green, yellow, and brown. Can you please give me some help. The trailer store where I bought the trailer said it is tricky and I would need to bring it in. No help from them : Thanks,

Since trailer wires colors are not always consistent among manufacturers the best way to figure the functions of each circuit is to test each circuit individually.
There are two ways you can do this, the easier way is to get a car battery and run a jumper wire from the positive side of the battery to each of the wires in question. When you put current on each circuit you should be able to see what functions activate, which will tell you what does what. I would recommend you label each circuit as you discover its function.
The other method would be to trace the wires back to see where the terminate to determine its function.
Next you will want to wire the 6-way according to the picture I attached that shows the circuit locations.
I also attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring that you might find helpful also.
