Question:
My trailer coupler is 4 inches too low to accommodate a weight distribution hitch even at its lowest setting for ground clearance, and the tongue about 3 inches too short for proper placement of the weight distribution brackets Fastway Trunnion 2e square bar. I want to replace the coupler with one that is higher and sticks out a little further hopefully 3, but I am not sure how I can make this work? Or is there another solution?

Though the Bulldog Collar-Lok Coupler # BD028585 coupled with something like the Demco 5-Position Adjustable Channel Bracket # DM13867-52, with modifications to make it fit your trailer, would get your coupler raised up, it would not be able to use your weight distribution system.
This will be due to the head of the system being far higher than the spring bar brackets on the frame of the trailer. This will cause problems when hooking up and turning and will not allow the spring bars to work properly and distribute the load evenly to the vehicle and the trailer.
The only way I can suggest going to get your coupler higher would be to raise the trailer. This will most likely affect the handling, but I think will be the option to go with.
With that said, this will require taller spring hangers, like the Redline Center Hanger for Double-Eye Springs - 5-7/16" Tall - 3/4" Bolt Hole # 115919. Using these will not only raise the trailer up, it will allow for larger wheels to be used, which will raise the trailer further. How much all this will lift will depend on the size of your current hangers and tires though.
