The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller # 90885 will work on trailers with brakes on up to 4 axles and can be used with electric or electric-over-hydraulic trailer brakes.
If your 2002 Ford Excursion came with a factory 7 Way already installed, the Tekonsha # 3035-P will also plug directly into a port under your dash, making the install very easy.
If it came prewired with a factory 4 Flat, the port will still be under the dash and # 3035-P can still be used, but you will need to add on the Hopkins # 37185. This will piggyback off the existing 4 Flat and then to the vehicle's tow package wires which are along the rear frame rail.
If there was no wiring included from the factory, you will need a few things to get the controller working. First, if you do not have a 4 Flat, I suggest going with the Tekonsha # 118344. This is a plug and play harness and will get the power to the trailer lights. Our Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will then piggyback off the 4 Flat and get the rest of the power and functions up and running.
