Recommended Solution to Carry Bikes on 2017 Infiniti Q50 Sport

I ordered the curt 11407 listed as a fit. Installation was going fine until I went to mount the hitch and it was an inch or so too short to fit the frame. Called curt and they said the sport models are specifically excluded. Called etrailer and the repnwas very helpful and said they didnt know about that restriction and arranged a return for me. Looking through these qandas, there was one with the drawtite dimension drawing. The width on it shows 38.071. Measured the curt hitch and, the one I have at least, is right at 37. Now I am confused. Is the hitch I have made to specs? Are the drawtite and curt made to different dimensions? Additionally, I spoke with a friend who works at infiniti and he says the structurally there should be no difference between the q50 and the q50s. At the end of the day, I just need a hitch to fit the car for my bike rack.

I know I've previously spoken with Horizon about the Draw-Tite # 24931 and they've said that this hitch also will not fit on the Infiniti Q50 Sport. With that said, it's possible that your hitch was bent during transit, which isn't uncommon. My contact over at Curt tells me that the Curt # C11407 should be 37.79" wide if you were to stick a tape measure on the outside of one bracket and measure to the outside of the other. It's not a noticeable difference between the Curt and the Draw-Tite # 24931.
Because of all of this, the only confirmed solution we have to carry bikes on a 2017 Infiniti Q50 Sport is either a roof rack or a trunk mounted bike rack; for the sake of cost I recommend going with a trunk mounted bike rack like the Thule Gateway Pro 2 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # TH88VR. If you can't get a hitch to fit on your Q50 Sport this would be the best solution.
