Question:
I am looking at the D-T 75234 for my 2017 Edge SEL. Will be hauling small trailer for Motorcycles and or Kayaks. What all will be required parts wise, wiring kit etc. from start to ready to tow? I already have 2” ball and with pin. Thank you in advance.

In addition to the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75234 for your 2017 Ford Edge SEL you will also need a Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118669. This will give you a 4-way flat wiring connection that is commonly used on most small trailers.
The Draw-Tite Receiver # 75234 measured in at 5-1/2" for the hitch pin center hole to the rear bumper of a similar Ford Edge when installed in our shop. The inside top edge of the receiver was 12-1/2" from the ground as well. This will help you to determine how much height is needed for a ball mount.
The Curt Ball Mount # D-4 will give you 3/4" rise or 2" of drop Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3. You will need to measure the height of your trailer coupler to ensure that you get the correct height ball mount. Also your 2" Ball # 63845 has a certain shank diameter that will need to match the ball mount. In this instance both of these have a 1" shank. If you need help finding the correct size please let me know what your measurements are.
If you do not have the trailer yet the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900 includes 2 different height ball mounts, 2" ball, 1-7/8" ball, 2 hitch pins and a convenient carry bag to keep everything in one place.
I recommend using a Master Lock Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock and Coupler Lock Set # 3794DAT as it has locks for the ball mount, coupler latch and a storage lock for the coupler that will keep your trailer secured when you are away from it and your Edge.
