What Would Cause Curt Wiring Harness for 2008 Scion xB to Short Out After Blowing Fuse

Question:
I ordered the Curt wiring harness about 18 months ago. Yesterday I was driving without the trailer and the turn signals stopped working. I replaced the fuse and it blew immediately. So I guessed a short in the system. I completely disconnected the trailer wiring and turn signals now work. Is the short in the power box provided? A few months ago the system had no power. I replaced the fuse in the red wiring and it has been working. But I ask why? All wiring was connected well. What is causing the turn signals to short out?

If you blew a fuse in past and now the converter box has shorted out that would indicate that you most likely over drew the trailer wiring either due to a short or just too much amperage draw on the circuits which shorted the box out. For your 2008 Scion xB the Curt wiring harness part # 56062 that you mentioned does have the highest amperage rating so it would be most resilient to shorts. You might check to see if you have any shorts on the wiring of the trailer and fix as needed.
