Question:

I want to add a hitch to my 2016 Volvo S80 so that I can mount a Freedom Hitch Bike Rack. Will part # C12287 work with my car? What are all the parts that I need to order so that I can have someone install this? Can any mechanic install this?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12287 is confirmed to fit all models of your 2016 Volvo S80. The class II, 1-1/4" receiver is rated for a tongue weight of 350lbs and 3,500lbs of trailer towing. Be sure to verify your weight capacities with a Volvo dealer and use the lower of the 2 numbers. This will support the Saris Freedom Bike Rack # SA4412B well as the carrier only weighs 22.5lbs and will hold 2 bikes up to 60lbs each.

I recommend using the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118454 to connect some Auxiliary Lights # C53201. This will ensure that the drivers behind you will be able to see your lights properly if your bikes or any other items you may carry in a cargo carrier block the view of the taillights on your Volvo.
