Question:
Hi, I have a 2012 Ford F150 with rear lights that uses one wire per side for both turn signal and stop light. I want to add amber turn signals and need to seperate the signal that powers the stop light and turn light. I believe this may be called a 2-3 wire conversion? The truck has 2 stop lights each side so obviously 4 illuminate when the brake pedal is pressed, would any converter you may have handle this load? I also have a trailer that has seperate turn signals and stop lights, if the above is possible could I wire the trailer turn and stop lights through this converter or would you advise to use an additional converter for the trailer. Will the converted turn signals be in phase with the vehicles other turn signals.

If you want to add separate turn signals from the combined circuit on the truck then you will need a vehicle to vehicle converter # 118158. The combined left turn/brake light will go to the yellow input wire. The combined right turn/brake light will go to the green input wire. The white wire must be grounded to the vehicle frame.
On the output side you will then have a yellow wire just for left turn signal, a green wire just for right turn signal, and a red wire that will only carry brake lights.
On the trailer you would use this same converter to separate the turn signals and brake lights. I have included a picture of how the converter gets wired up.
The trailer lights and truck lights should be on time with each other once everything is installed.
