I cannot determine which rear bumper that you have from your picture so I will give you to options based on which bumper you have on your 1989 Chevrolet K3500 Crew Cab Pickup with the 8' bed.
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 41947 is designed to fit your Chevrolet with the standard or step bumper. This class V receiver is capable of towing 15,000lbs or 16,000lbs if you use a weight distribution hitch. The tongue weight rating is 1,600lbs for either style hitch or hitch mounted accessory. Drilling is required to install this receiver.
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15317 is a Class V receiver that will fit your Chevrolet with a 10" Deepdrop Bumper. This receiver is capable of towing 16,000lbs or 17,000lbs with a weight distribution hitch. The tongue weight rating is 2,400lbs with either style hitch or hitch mounted accessory. No Drilling is required to install this receiver.
Be sure with either hitch to not exceed the trucks tow ratings given by Chevrolet.
If you do not have any trailer wiring the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55315 will give you a 4-flat trailer wiring connector to operate the basic lights on the trailer. Our Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 will give you the necessary parts to add a 7-way blade connector for hauling most larger trailer.
You can also install a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 with the wiring kit. With this brake controller you will allow you to control up to 4 braking axles that use either electric brakes or electric over hydraulic brakes. This controller is also proportional so it will automatically adjust for light or heavy braking without driver input.
