Question:
Hi, Id like to install a tow hitch to my Honda HRV 2019 AWD. I guess the only one that could be installed is a 1.25 inch hitch. Im wondering, if I get an adapter, 1.25in to 2inch, would I be able to tow this specific hauler? MaxxTow MaxxHaul Aluminum Motorcycle Carrier for 2inch Hitches - 400 lbs Assuming the tongue has a limit of 300 lbs, and the motorcycle I would be towing has a weight of around 250lbs, is the trailer light enough for the hitch to hold? Im Driving down to Southern California from Washington to pick up my bike, so Id like to get as much information on choices before I purchase a trailer and install a hitch on my car. thank you

I have a solution for you to add a trailer hitch to your 2019 Honda HR-V but you're going to be severely limited by the vehicle with the tongue weight capacity AND the towing capacity; I'm showing 200-lbs tongue weight capacity and roughly 1,100-lbs towing capacity at most (you'll want to consult the owner's manual for the most accurate information). The reason this is important is because you're not going to have the tongue weight capacity to use a hitch and hitch mounted carrier like the MaxxTow MT70101.
When it comes down to it, to carry a motorcycle you're going to need a physical motorcycle trailer for your bike, which we don't offer. We do, however, offer the other parts you'll need including the hitch, trailer wiring, ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip. To start with the hitch I recommend using the EcoHitch # 306-X7322 which will give you a nice 2" hitch that's much better suited for towing.
For a wiring harness to power trailer lights I recommend using the Tekonsha T-One # 118673 because of the reliability of the Tekonsha harnesses. This harness installs easily by teeing into your vehicle's existing light plugs and provides you with a 4 way trailer plug.
To complete your towing setup, a ball mount kit like the # EBMK4 would give you a ball mount that can be used in either rise or drop configuration and comes with both 2" and 2-5/16" hitch balls, so you'll be able to cover a few different trailer setups and keep the trailer level. The # EBMK4 also comes with a hitch pin, clip and storage bag to give you everything else you'll need to tow a trailer.
I've linked some review and installation videos for these parts for you to check out, as well.
