Question:
Hi. Ive got a 4 pin US trailer connector on the car, and need to hook into the Australian 5 pin round trailer connection. The difference is the 5th wire separates out the brake lighting from the indicator lighting. How would you suggest to do this?

Expert Reply:
The Tail Light Converter # 118158 will allow you to split the taillights from the 2 wires coming from your vehicle to the 3 wire system that the trailer uses.
To make the trailer connection you will need the Hopkins Endurance Quick-Fix Replacement 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48190 to replace your existing trailer connector. You will be able to wire in the tail light convertor into the connection along with the wiring from the trailer to make all the circuits work.
Green- Right turn and stop before convertor. Right turn only after convertor.
Yellow- Left turn and stop before convertor. Left turn only after convertor.
Brown- Running lights.
White- Ground wire.
Red- Brake Lights after convertor.
