The 1-1/4 inch ball that comes with the friction sway control units like part # 83660 are only designed to be used with the friction sway control setups and not with a coupler. That smallest standard size ball for towing with is 1-7/8 inch like part # 19256 which we do have couplers for like with the # CT-2001-Z.
