You do have to run a power wire up to the battery of your 2021 Ram ProMaster city to install the Tekonsha harness part # 118719. This is a pretty standard step now for trailer wiring since it allows your trailer wiring to be powered actually from the vehicle battery instead of the taillight wiring which prevents shorts from damaging the vehicle wiring as well as gives the trailer lighting more amperage.
This wasn't the standard way to wire up trailer wiring a few years back but since vehicles are getting made with more and more delicate wiring it's becoming basically a standard step.
