Question:
Hello, I am curious as to why Reese doesnt recommend using the side winder pinbox with gooseneck hitch assemblies. Can you do so with the elite? I have a bandw installed in my 2015 ram 2500 WITH RAM BOXES and I need a solution on how tow a 5th wheel.

The Sidewinder pin boxes put more/different stress on hitches than a standard pin box since the pin box pivots instead of the hitch due to the design. Due to the twisting torque put on the hitch as the vehicle and Sidewinder turn you have to use a hitch that attaches to the truck bed in four corner like a standard hitch and not one that attaches to a gooseneck ball in the center of the hitch.
So if you have a Turnoverball gooseneck hitch and a Ram truck with the Ram Boxes you'd have to go to a different hitch and rail kit since the Companion hitch for your Turnoverball uses the gooseneck ball as the attachment point.
You'd need a rail kit like the part # C16427-204 which fits your truck so you could use a fixed hitch like part # RP30047 with a Sidewinder. Keep in mind that the Sidewinder to use will be based on the fifth wheel trailer you have and the current pin box it has.
You probably know this already but the Sidewinder pin box solution is the only way to tow a fifth wheel trailer with the Ram Boxes due to the narrower bed rails.
