There is currently only one tailgate lift assist option confirmed to fit your 2000 Toyota Tundra which is the Hopkins EasyLift Truck Bed Tailgate Lift Assist # 74211.

The Hopkins # 74211 will assist the opening and closing of your tailgate to the point that you can easily operate it with one hand.

Will it also work on a 2001 ? I would think yes but never hurts to ask

@Steve It's not in our fitguide as a fit so I am not sure why Sam said it would fit BUT I can't see why it wouldn't work.
