If you are needing basic trailer wiring for your 2015 Ford Transit Connect, I suggest the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # 118613. This kit will allow you the basic light functions on your trailer and the install is straight forward and nearly plug and play.
Below you will find a review and installation video of the wiring harness.
To add a 7 way to the vehicle, I recommend the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Item # ETBC7. This kit will require you to connect to your installed 4 way, but also requires wiring for the needed trailer functions. It provides the option for wiring into the vehicles braking system/brake controller, as well as adding function for reverse lights, auxiliary power, or reverse lockout.
I have added the review and installation video of the 7-way kit explaining the steps to wire it to the vehicle.
In order for you to tow a trailer that is heavier and has a braking system with a 7 way connector, you will need to install a brake controller as well. I recommend the Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller Item # C51170 along with the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers Item # C51515. This will allow you to manage the trailers braking system depending on the size of load you are hauling. I have added a detailed install of this brake controller below.
Always keep in mind to tow only the vehicle manufacturers recommended tow rating.
