You can choose to insert the shank of the Solid-Tow Adjustable Ball Mount # DTSTBM6800 into your trailer hitch so the vertical bar rise above the shank rather than drops below it. By doing this, you will gain additional height for your trailer, up to a 9-inch rise. I have included a link to our FAQ page on how to select the correct rise/drop ball mount.

Inverting the mount in this way will not change the 10,000 lb total weight capacity or the 1500 lb tongue weight capacity of this product nor will it change the TW applied to the vehicle in any way. I have included a link to a video review of this mount as well.

To ensure the security of your ball mount while in use with your trailer and tow vehicle, you might be interested in our Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98882. It is a stainless steel lock that prevents theft of your ball mount and trailer by keeping your mount locked securely to your trailer hitch. I have provided a link to a video review of this product as well.
