This part is not specified for a 2001 Tacoma, so it is possible that the original owner may have installed it by other than the approved method intended by the manufacturer. The Westin Sportsman Grille Guard, part # 40-1605, is specified to fit all Tacoma model years between 2005 and 2011. Unfortunately it is not specified as compatible with your 1999 Tacoma, nor with the 2001 Tacoma from which it came.

We do offer a grill guard for your truck, Westin Grille Guard for the 1999 Toyota Tacoma, part # 40-0905. This complete bolt-on kit includes the mounting hardware and requires no drilling. I have included a link to the installation instructions for this product.

I spoke to my contact at Westin and they confirmed that these two parts, though visually similar, have different contours on the upright bars and use non-compatible bracketry.

We also offer a Westin Bull Bar with Skid Plate, part # 33-0900, which also is a bolt-on no-drilling installation. This part is typically used along with a License Plate Relocation Kit, such as part # 32-0055.
