What does the Er. Code mean. No trailer connected in months just started displaying the code one day.

An ER code on a brake controller indicates an internal problem and would mean it's time to replace it. For a replacement the Brake EVN # TK63VR is a very reliable and better performing controller than the Reese you have now.
