Question:
Several of the items show a range of tongue weights - is this achieved by changing the bars? If so can I use this feature to haul 2 different trailers which have rather different tongue weights, assuming I find a a range listed which includes both weights? Thanks

As long as the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer plus the weight of anything stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle falls within the effective range of the system, which would be 600-1200 lbs in the case of the # 49570 system you had looked at, you would not need to change bars. As long as the tongue weight of both trailers is within the effective range of the system, you could certainly use the same system for two different trailers.
I would recommend an additional set of snap up brackets, part # RP6637 for the second trailer so you do not have to swap them back and forth.
