The highest capacity trailer hitch that we carry for your 1986 Chevrolet K3500 with an 8 ft bed is the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch, # 41947. The Titan trailer hitch # DT45519 that you referenced is designed to fit some GM trucks from 2001 to 2010 and will not fit on your truck.
The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame trailer hitch is a class V hitch with a 15,000 lbs gross trailer weight capacity and a 1,500 tongue weight capacity. Those capacities increase to 16,000 lbs and 1,600 lbs when using a weight distribution system. I have attached a copy of the installation instructions for you to check out.
You should verify the towing capacities of your truck before towing. If the towing capacity of your truck is lower than the trailer hitch, then you will be limited to the weight capacity of the truck when towing.
A few other items that you may need to complete your towing set up are a wiring harness, # HM41115, and a ball mount kit, # EBMK2416. The wiring harness simply plugs into the factory connector inside of the left rear frame rail and does not require any splicing or cutting. I have attached the installation instructions for you to check out.
