Question:
I'm looking to purchase this or something similar for my 2008 Highlander. What parts do you recommend I purchase with it, as well as what parts do I need to purchase to have it installed adequately

For starters, you will need to install a hitch like the Draw-Tite # 75726. You will also need a pin and clip, part # PC3 or a locking hitch pin like # e98882 to secure the cargo carrier in the receiver. These are the necessities, but there are other accessories that you might be interested in.
There is a light kit available # e98943-44LED. If you are interested in a light kit, you would need to install a 4-pole trailer connector on the vehicle, part # 118449.
A cargo bag like the etrailer model, part # e98990 would be a good choice to protect your cargo against the elements. The bag offers plenty of protection against light rain and road grime, but for heavy rain, we recommend wrapping your cargo in plastic. A cargo net like part # RLN1-RTD4 would come in handy for securing cargo.
I have provided links to the parts I recommended as well as links to some product demonstration videos that you might find helpful. I have also linked to an install video for the hitch.
