Does the Handle Change Directions When Switching Sides on the Fulton F2 Winch

Updated 07/02/2020 | Published 06/30/2020

Question:

I see that the crank handle can be mounted on the left or right side. Can the crank handle be set up to turn clockwise as well as counter clockwise? In one of the etrailer product videos for this winch the crank handle rotated counter clockwise which is a bit awkward if you are standing directly behind the winch stand which is where I always stand when loading the boat onto the trailer manually. For most shallow grade launch ramps, which is often times when I will choose to manually pull the boat onto the trailer, in order to stand on the side of the winch stand to give you more leverage to turn the crank handle counter clockwise you would likely be standing in water as bunk style trailers usually need to be backed further into the launch with shallow grade ramps. Also, can the winch strap be installed to spool on under as well as over the drum hub?

The Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch part # FW16000101 will allow you to change the side of the handle but that would then in-turn change the direction of rotation. The strap can be configured to spool over or under the drum which is further explained in the owner's manual.
