Question:
Similar to other folks posting, I have a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas SEL w/tow package - but cannot/will not install a weight-distributing hitch or stabilizing hitch. However - my manual says nothing about a sway control - is it ok to install a sway control w/hitch adapter? As long as your owner's manual for your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas doesn't shoot down a sway-control device then you can definitely use one. Most manufacturers don't say anything about a sway control device because those tend to have less of an impact on the vehicle frame than a weight distribution system does which is built to distribute weight among all of the axles involved in the towing rig.
When I did some searches online it looks like your owner's manual doesn't say anything about a sway control so if you can verify this on your end then you can definitely use the Sway-Control Bracket # RP26003 and Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660.
