Question:
I had a dealer install a hitch and wiring harness, 4 prong to my dodge. My problem lies in the fact that the brake lights work off of a different light bulb than the turn signals.I want to get a harness to solve this but im not sure that this will. Knowing that the brake lights work off of the turn signals how can I possible hook this system up to another light with out back feeding through the truck? Would this product solve this and how?

The Tow Ready wiring harness # 118390 plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring and then runs to a converter box that takes the signals used by the vehicle and converts them to the signals used by the trailer.
Trailers have combined turn and brake lights some vehicles do and some do not. Others are a little less cut and dry. What this harness does is take the more complex signals used by the vehicle and translates them to work with the simple functions on the trailer.
This harness is also circuit protected. The signals go into the converter but they cannot back feed back to the vehicle. I have included a link to a video and to the instructions for you.
If the trailer itself has separate turn signals and brake lights and you are already using a converted 4-Way on the vehicle. You would need to install a separate converter on the trailer, # 118158. The way this converter works is you attach the green and yellow wires and a ground, the converter separates the turn and brake light signals, and then on the output side you will have green for right turn, yellow for left, and red for brake lights. The brown tail light wire bypasses this converter. I have included a video demo for you to view.
