A trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13506 is a fit for a 2001 Ford Escape. This will only fit Escapes through model year 2004.
For your 2008 Ford Escape I recommend the etrailer - Matte Black Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # e56AR. This will fit 2005 to 2011 models.
