Question:
I have a 4x8 utility trailer with 4.5 hubs. Today I have 13 rims.. Im going camping on a 4wd remote beach for a week, and want to take it with me. Suggestions on the best tires to use? Does it make sense to get bigger rims and bigger tires?

Ultimately you want the most surface area on sand so if you have the means to upgrade your tire/wheel size then go for it! What you need to do prior to purchasing new tires/wheels is to go out and check on your current set to see what kind of clearances you have. You want to have at least 4" of clearance above your tires (for suspension travel) and then at least 2" of clearance between the sidewall of your tires and your trailer frame.
With all of that being said, the largest tire you'd be able to fit on your hubs is a 225/75-15 and for that I recommend the Kenda Karrier which comes on a 15" White Wheel # AM32459 or 15" Galvanized Wheel # AM32468.
The 225/75-15 size tire has an 8.9" section width and an outer diameter of 28.4" so that's what you'll want to compare with what you currently have.
Once you get to the beach you'll want to let some of the air of the trailer tires so that you can get more surface area to help prevent sinking. Don't do this until you get to the beach because you'll run the risk of overheating the tires on the highway. Try playing with the psi in your trailer tires while you're still at home to see what gives you the most surface area without starting to go flat that way when you get to the beach you can just adjust the psi and get moving. To air up the tires again you can carry a portable compressor like part # BDW41004.
I have attached review videos of the different tire/wheel combinations I mentioned above, as well as a link to our selection of tires/wheels that you can filter through if you'd like.
