The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT78MR measures approximately 3-1/4 inches in between the mounting plates and approximately 1-1/2 inches from the center of the mounting holes to the top of the receiver.
I do want to mention that I do not recommend using this on a travel trailer, as its capacity and installation are only meant for certain years of Jeeps, and we do have trailer hitches that are specific to trailers. These hitches are going to be the safest way to use a hitch on a trailer, and there is no way to guarantee the Draw-Tite hitch can be used safely. There are a couple of other options that can work instead which I recommend.
- Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide # 13703
This hitch will work so long as you have a box frame, C-channel frame, or I-beam frame that is between 22" and 72" wide.
- Curt RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # E-100
This hitch will fit on square 4" bumpers, which is standard on many different trailers.
I have added links to video reviews of these hitches or if you have something else please let me know and I may be able to find the right part for you.
